Hi community,
Does someone know a step-by-step tutorial, how to configure the above process?
I really would appreciate the help.
I have tried to model the requirement with VAS in outbound process:
VAS is supposed to be modeled with packaging specification, therefore:
- create packaging spec with external step VS02 in main level
customize POSC for the process:
- define external step VS02 (corresponding to internal step VAS)
- define storage process VAS0 with OB01 (pick), VS02 (VAS pack) and OB03 (stage)
Workstation and WS determination:
- define workstation with external step VS02, layout KITO and WS determination via storage type / bin
Now, VAS order is created automatically from OBD. From /SCWM/PRDO, OBD position, I can go to the VAS order and start VAS workstation.
But here, I am stuck.
The packing should be done automatically using packaging spec.
I guess, additionally, I need something like the following:
- customize warehouse process type with warehouse order creation rule
- warehouse order creation rule needs packing profile with automatic pick HU creation
Maybe then, the creation of the HU(s) will be done automatically during the picking step. The HU(s) will appear already packed in the VAS workstation, an I can only confirm the process step there (and trigger staging).
Is this assumption even correct? Has anybody successfully configured this process?
Or are there any suggestions how to model automatic packing in GI in a different way?
Thank you in advance for replies.

Unfortunately, I do not quite get it working ;(
Scenario is now the following:
- There is an outbound delivery with 20 PC of the material ... with the follow-up "Create WT", a product WT is created for the 20 PC (with source HU, destination HU is empty).
- The pack spec has a condition of type 0BDL, it has one level with 10 PC.
- There is a WOCR with packing profile for shipping, which references the above pack spec and specifies, that the WT should be split
I would expect now, that 2 shipping HUs are created, each for 10 PC, and the original product WT is split into 2, but this does not happen.
If I edit the pack spec and set the maximum weight manually, so that only 10 PC would fit, the packing profile is not used, WOCR defaults to DEF.
Can someone please point me in the right direction, where to look?

Thank you both for your replies.
@Jürgen: the only purpose of the VAS is to pack automatically in GI according to pack spec. If this could be achieved easier, I would be very happy.
The pack spec is determined (successfully) by material at the moment. Using the recipient(customer) is not really necessary for the business case, because the material is manufactured solely for one customer.
I will follow now your hints and try to set this up with ship HU packing profile in the WOCR without VAS process ...

Hi,
there is a difference between a pick HU and what you are doing for VAS, especially when it is supposed to be customer specific.
The pick HU can be created automatically. As Andreas wrote, you have to look at the packaging profile in the WOCR, you need a pack spec, and for the automatic creation, a start bin for the activity area.
But during the warehouse order creation the standard does not support a determination with customer information. This information is not part of the WT, so it is not there.
I see that the pack spec you showed does not include a customer, so maybe that is not the issue. But what else do you want to do at the VAS work center at all?

Hi Monika,
from what I understand I think you should at first have a look at your warehouse order creation rule. There, you will find two packing profiles, one for the pick HU and one for the ship HU. You need to check the profile for the ship HU and work from there. This will work w/o POSC or VAS.
