I am working on the POC project of IBP, and I would like to ask the question as shown in the title. As long as I read this, I am wondering how to define that quotas.

Q1: Is my understanding right that the quotas about how much product is transported can be defined by attribute "TRATIO" in LOCATIONSOURCE master?

Q2: Is my understanding right that the quotas can be changed on my own via Excel? If yes, Can I scheduled the change of attribute as batch job?

Hello Kenta,

Q1: Yes, this is true for the heuristic (Infinite without shortages) algorithm. The optimizer is based purely on costs although it has a feature called "Quota arrangements" where you may provide sourcing quotas as well (but on different key figures).

Q2: Yes, you can change the quotas via Excel, with the help of the Master Data Workbook. I didn't understand your 2nd question "If yes, Can I scheduled the change of attribute as batch job?". Could you please clarify it?

Dear Matheus,

Thank you for you help. To clarify that, what I meant is whether it is possible or not to change the quotas via Excel with the help of the master Data work book in advance as a scheduled task.

Use-case I assume currently is like the following; there are plant A and plant B that provide product with a DC. For the first six month in the year, I want to set the ratio of the two plants as 0.3 with plant A: 0.7 plant B. After that, I want to change the ratio such as 0.6 with plant A : 0.4 plant B in July. In this case, you kindly told me that the change of the quotas can be done via excel manually. And, what I want to know additionally is if user can schedule the change in advance so that the quotas will change automatically when it reaches to the certain period. Thanks.

Hi Kenta,

Yes, that's possible. The planners only needs to configure the master data accordingly. This is documented in the SAP Help Portal Modeling Validities in Conjunction with Quotas (Example), where you can define different quotas for different planning periods.
