Question on IBP TS Based Optimizer log

Hello,

I need help in understanding a message within the Optimizer log. In the case I'm running, we have a model without any values in INDEPENDENTDEMAND. The log clearly shows that in a couple of messages (see attached screenshot).

However, a few rows below, there is a message that talks about "Independent Demands" with a value > 0. What does this refer to? If we don't have any value in KF INDEPENDENTDEMAND, are there other KFs that aggregate into this "Independent Demands" value that is displayed in the log?

Thank you,
Marco Santoyo

Hello Marco,

I assume you use subnetworks. Dependent demands from not selected subnetworks are passed as independent demands to the optimizer and finite heuristic. Accordingly entries in IPUNONDELIVERYCOSTRATE are mapped to INDEPDEMANDNONDELIVERYCOSTRATE for such demands.

See also Subnetwork Borders for more information.

I hope this explains the somewhat misleading log-entries.

Kind regards, Carsten

Hello Carsten,

Yes, my network does have subnetworks, and this particular run was executed for a subset of all the subnetworks. Thank you for the explanation!

Kind Regards,

Hello Marco

The optimizer log is basically telling you that it has 2 inputs for considering demands. one is INDEPENDENTDEMAND where you should update your final consensus no if you do forecasting at PRODLOC level without any customers included. In our case it is showing 0 because I think either you are using the CONSENSUSPLAN KF or any other KF as input since you do forecast at a level that includes customer. So INDEPENDENTDEMAND is also considered as an input and optimiizer has found no values in that KF. This is what the first highlighted section of the log is referring to.

The next part that you highlighted in related to scenerio functionality. Please check if you have any scenarios created for this KF in any version be it baseline or any other simulation version and remove the scenarios associated. Also please remove the option from the S&OP operator where you have selected to run the initial solve based on finite heuristics.

Hi Ayan,

Thank you for your response. I checked, and I don't have any scenario with Independent Demand values. I did see Carsten's response, and I believe it is correct. My network does have subnetworks, and the run was done for a subset of the subnetworks.

Can you comment please why you proposed to remove the option to run the initial solve based on finite heuristic?

Thank you,

Marco
