Experts: For certain products, we are wanting to set an Inventory threshold lvl based on which the system could generate an Alert/notification for the users, prompting them to take actions like moving the inventory to a different storage location or sell off excess inventory. I looked @ the possible options in S/4 & on the PPDS side, but nothing seems to match this ask. We've options to trigger an alert based on stock falling below a certain level, but none for when it exceeds a target level? Ay clues?
Request clarification before answering.
Hi Brahmankar:
Sorry if this is going in circles. In S/4 HANA, where do I set the Target Stock level in material/product master? Read thru a lotta help material, its utterly confusing. Here is my actual requirement:
> We've some co-products/by-products, for which there will be NO DEMAND in the system (i.e. no Dep Demand, no FCST, no SO's)
> We are looking to have some inventory threshold set based on which users get the Alert & take the necessary actions manually.
We do not want to separately plan this material during MRP or PPDS planning runs, they will simply be planned as co-products & by-products into inventory & when their inventory reaches a certain level, need Alerts. Target Stock comes with Safety Stock (i think) & is also designed to replenish inventory back (during planning) to a certain inventory level.

Hello,
I think you are mixing the planning with an alerts. Alerts are generated based on your planning data, and it has nothing to do the your planning.
Did you check the Lot size tab in product master?
Do the F1 and F4 on the field Target Stock Level Method
The system derives the target stock level from the target days' supply that is specified in the location product master or you can use the target stock level.
You can be informed by alerts when the target days' supply has not been reached or has been exceeded. To do this, you must select the Target Days' Supply not Reached and Target Days' Supply Exceeded alerts in the Alert Monitor and/or Alert Profile. PP/DS: Tab page PP/DS -> Stock Alerts
Please refer SAP help on Stock below target stock level and Target stock level exceeded
Monitoring of PP/DS Alerts (sap.com)
Best Regards,
R.Brahmankar
Thanks both
@Brahmankar - that Alert was my target of research, but am not looking to influence any behavior in the system which the Target Stock level value will make me do. i.e. if I use Target Stock levels, the system will plan certain quantity as a supply (based on SAP's functionality for Target Stock level), where as what I need is that considering all the demand available at a given time, if the stock exceeds certain quantity, the users need to get an Alert.

Hi ayeri8,
Not trying to reinvent the wheel. but I also could not find anything either. I would invest some time review the SAP Enterprise Messaging features.
https://blogs.sap.com/2019/09/16/basics-about-sap-enterprise-messaging/
I would review the Fiori Apps currently available to understand what it carries, so you can understand what business event you could create.

Last, but not least, the IBP side of it. Looking into recent innovations will probably help you understand if what you need might already exist. I found this BTW >>> https://roadmaps.sap.com/board?BC=6EAE8B27FCC11ED892E91B6B24AC80CC&range=CURRENT-LAST#;INNO=089E017A...
