Putaway strategy - Addition to existing stock

Experts,

short question - is it possible to setup putaway strategy to first look for storage bins that already contain material/batch combination, then for empty bins?

In the Search sequence, I can setup the puaway rule to "Addition to existing stock/Empty bin", but in description I can see:

"The system first looks for empty bins. If no empty bins are found, it looks for partially occupied bins only."

So it search the "wrong way".

Example:

Actual example in the system:

I have a location A with max 3 pallets, 2 pallets are in (one pallet can be stored).

Today they moved one pallet back in the racks, system guided to a different empty location B (should go to location A)

This is my system description for this checkbox:

• Addition to Existing Stock/Empty Bin

          The system searches for partially occupied bins first. If it does not find partially occupied bins,           the system then searches for empty bins.

Not sure where you got this text from - but it is definitely the wrong way around (the description). With addition to stock the system first looks for a quant with the same criteria. And then for an empty bin (if no bin can be found or if the bin is full).

With Bulk Storage that should also work. But there are special settings for putaway blocks, maybe these are set?

Do you have a log of a WT where the bin you expect is not found?

Hi,

I looked in a 9.0 and a 9.3 system and the text in the F1 help is always the other way around then in your screenshot (can not find a 9.1 system right now).

Before trying to understand what is happening (or not happening) I would recommend to cut this down to what you are really want to know and go from there. Switch of the bin type check, the section determination, and create a storage type search sequence with just the one storage type you have this strategy set up. And then extend it one by one to see where the issue comes from.

"Addition to stock" works as how the title / name says.
