Purchase Requisitions generation without source of supply in IBP R&S / Order-Based

Hi Experts,

The following business requirement is exposed: Purchase Requisitions documents generation without any reference from a supplier and using the "Planned Delivery Time in Days" value for lead-time defined in the Location Materials master. Planning using a supplier source is not a requirement in this business model.

We have defined materials of type "raw material" required by a finished product structure (PDS), these has no stock and no source of supply, and has defined in the Location Materials master a Procurement = External (F) and "Planned Delivery Time" value in days. We tried to execute "Order-Based Planning: Constrained Forecast Run" operator, but the optimization doesn't determine Planned Orders and Purchase Requisitions, and reports a Gating Factors of "kind Dummy Order - No source of supply found".

On the other hand, when a source of supply exists (creating Purchase Info Record in ECC and transfer to IBP R&S order-based using SDI as transportation lane), then the optimization ends correctly and generates the planned orders and purchase requisition without gating factors.

So, it is mandatory to define a source of supply with transportation lane to a supplier for each raw material, to get a successful optimization? In SAP APO this is not necessary, given that it was possible to generate a "dummy" purchase requisition without an reference supplier, using the delivery time of the material master data.

Best regards,

Yes, that is one of the ways to generate dummy Preq. Create Dummy Lane and run confirmation run, it should give you results.

Hi Dagoberto

As of now, it is not possible in R&S to generate Dummy Preq without having a source of supply.

Thanks Ankur,

I think that a way to model this is using a "dummy" supplier to create info records in ECC, or do you see another more efficient way to model this?
