Purchase BOM (bill of material) concept in standard Purchase order

There is a requirement to setup a process in MM procurement area. Wherein the company would buy the Finished product (FERT Material type) from the supplier. The finished product is made up of child components (FERT material type). Whenever the Finished product (main item) is entered on the PO overview screen, the child components should all be populated underneath the same. The pricing and inventory must be at the main item level.

For example:

If company buys a ‘Desktop’ (main item) from the supplier. The child components of the desktop are ‘Monitor’, ’CPU’, ‘Keyboard’ & ‘Mouse’.

                When the ‘Desktop’ material is entered on the PO, automatically the components ‘Monitor’, ’CPU’, ‘Keyboard’ & ‘Mouse’ should get populated underneath the ‘Desktop’ line in PO overview screen. The main item must have the price and child items with zero value as company paying at the main item level

Is the above requirement can be attained from standard configuration? Using purchase BOM concept etc...

If yes, do let us know the steps to configure the same?

Thank you for your input.

When observed the proposed solution, it was related to subcontracting scenario.

The expectation is that to have sub items right underneath main item in PO overview screen. To obtain this please let me know what are the configurations, master data etc...to be maintained.

Hi, I am not sure for standard PO there is any such functionality, may be someone else can provide you the information.
