Hi,

Please clarify how preferred units of measure is intended to work in Public cloud?

Unit of measure conversion

Preferred unit of measure BAG.

1.) Is it possible to maintain pref.unit of measure in warehouse level?

2.) If PO is created in 48pcs -> inbound 48 pcs -> why system creates task as 1 PAL?

3.) In outbound scenario, is pref. unit of measure supposed to be the unit in picking task?

In customizing the stock.specific unit of measure is BAG only.

Hello,

Thanks for raising questions on preferred unit of measure (PUoM) and stock-specific UoM. Please note that there are several influencing factors. Giving one concrete answer without knowing all settings is sometimes hard.

But back to your questions:

  1. Is it possible to maintain pref.unit of measure in warehouse level?
    1. Yes, you can e.g. maintain this in the app Warehouse Monitor using method Mass Change/Create of node Product Master Data->Warehouse Attribute.
  2.  If PO is created in 48pcs -> inbound 48 pcs -> why system creates task as 1 PAL?
    1. If only BAG is set as stock-specific, I would not expect that the warehouse task is created as 1 PAL. Is this really shown as alternative UoM of the WT if you check it in the app Warehouse Monitor?
  3. In outbound scenario, is pref. unit of measure supposed to be the unit in picking task?
    1. No. This depends on how your stock is handled during putaway. If only BAG is flagged as stock-specific, I would expect your stock in final bins will get alternative UoM BAG.
In outbound the stock removal strategy and stock removal rule is leading to determine the stock item to be picked. In the stock removal rule you can specify that stock item sorting should consider PUoM. Either prefer stock items in PUoM or items not having PUoM.

I hope this information helps.

Best regards, Tobias

P.S.: Please note that packaging specifications are not available in Warehouse Management in S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition.

Hi, I have maintained the Warehouse Attribute= BAG. If ERP inbound delivery 48 pc -> inbound delivery in WM 4 bags -> warehouse task still 1 PAL. If ERP inbound delivery 24 pcs -> WM inbound delivery 2 BAG -> WT 2 BAGs. I would expect AuM is BAG always. Why it is not?

Hello,

I just did a quick test with a product having CAR and PAL as alternative UoMs. So, CAR would be your BAG. Only CAR is set up as stock-specific in the warehouse (SSC-UI Define Unit of Measure Attributes). Additionally, the product has CAR as preferred UoM.

When creating an inbound delivery based on a purchase order with 48 PC the inbound delivery in WM will get UoM CAR (as 48 can be divided by 6 without remainder) => 8 CAR.
Also, in my case the resulting warehouse task gets 8 CAR as alternative UoM.

The AUoM CAR is displayed in RF environment, too.

When confirming the warehouse task the resulting stock item gets CAR as alternative UoM.

So, it seems like you have some other settings in your warehouse. Can you please check?
