planning area not visible for connection in Excel

Hi

I have created a test planning area and activated it. But in Excel connection manager I can't find it when I try to create a connection. Do I need to do anything to make it available for connection? I do have a permission filter maintained for full access to the planning area even though it doesn't look like necessary. Thanks for any input

did you upload it with suggested values, or with the existing and therefore empty file, or with the job template?

And did you check the other prerequisites as well, such as the roles etc? Is the planking area really active?

And are you sure you have the same URL then for the WebUI?

No typo?

Can you try in any other WebUi if you have the planning area available? E.g. can you pick it in Webbased Planning?

Can you post a screenshot of what you see when you try to open in Excel, if all of the above does not help?

It seems like I'm missing the relevant roles. Checking with the administrator.

If you dont remember that you loaded the time profile, then very likely you did not 🙂

Go to the data integration app, download template, pick your time profile and download with EXISTING values. If the file does not have values, then you did not load an need to do so

this can be done either by job template "create time profile" (or similar) or n the data integration app

You are right Irmhild it was empty... I have just uploaded the values with the template but still I can't find it in the possible PA list. Do I need to reactivate the PA? I have done that anyway but it doesn't help.

Hi Klif,

To add more to Irmhild's comment, Please check the Planning Area restrictions assigned in your Business Roles. Check no of Planning Areas in the active status under Planning Area application and check whether all the active Planning Areas visible under the connection build in excel addin. If you are missing some, then you are likely to be having restricted access for the planning area.

Riyaz

Thanks Riyaz. I can see that I am missing some activated planning areas.

In order to log on to a planning area you need

- a business role that allows you access Excel Add-In planning views

- permission filter

- attribute permission (usually given by default)

- active planning area

- Time Profile loaded (which is likely the missing piece for you)

Thank you Irmhild. I didn't create a business role but in the permission filter there was a direct user assignment with full access. Regarding time profile, how can check if it's loaded? I just created a time profile and had it activated.
