Pick HU for Partial Picking

Hi all,

I currently have an issue with the following scenario for one of our storage types.

• The storage type is HU managed.
• Putaway rule: General storage area
• HU Picking Control: Propose Source HU as Destination HU
• We only pick full pallets (= HUs). Picked pallets will be transferred directly to the goods issue zone.
• The level of Available Quantity is set to "Storage Bin". So warehouse tasks are created HU neutral. The picker selects the HU that has to be picked.
• The storage type is not set up as bulk storage
• We don´t use packaging specifications or quantity classifictions

The picking process is generally okay. But the following situation may occur.

60 cartons are stored on each full pallet (HU). But exceptionally there is also one HU with 75 cartons.

We create a warehouse task to pick 60 cartons.

The warehouse worker selects the HU that contains 75 cartons.

In this situation we do partial picking. We need to pack the stock into a HU but the system does not ask for a pick HU. Hence the stock will be transferred unpacked to the goods issue zone.

How can we prevent this situation?

• Do we need an additional setting so that the system asks for a pick HU in this situation?
• Or is it possible to prevent partial picking from a HU for a storage type?

Hi Julian,

There is a lot of settings for Pick HU creation.

• "HU Picking Control: Propose Source HU as Destination HU"

You should unselect this. Whenever this is set, the system will propose the source HU as dest. HU, no matter if you have Pick HU created. You should leave this setting as blank.

It seems that you switched of the screen of Pick HU creation. Please check you settings under SCM->Mobile Data Entry

Hi Julian,

you do not know in advance if you need pick HU or not it depends on selected by user HU.

You can try to set HU mandatory on the destination stiorage type. In this case user is forced to provied HU if it is partial picking. In such case user can go back and create pick HU. This is how I see it could work without development.

Hi Daniil,

yes, correct. It depends on the selected HU if we need a pick HU.

Unfortunately we currently cannot set the destination storage type to HU mandatory because in another picking process we still work with unpacked stock on the destination bin. So I will consider a development. But for the future this would be a good option.
