Hi Experts
We are looking into ways to control the Time period disaggregation of a specific key figure. The Planning object Disaggregation can be done with disaggregate by Key figure whereas the time dimension gets split equally. After some research we have come across the period weight Factor which should be defined within the time profile. When updating the time profile, the only option would be replace, how would this impact a live system as this is a new requirement. Are there any other options to modify Disaggregation of key figures for time buckets

Hi ebrahim.bhika,
1) Create a new key figure (Stored)with base planning (time period should be disaggregated time period).
2) Maintain constant value '1' in the bucket to which values need to populate and the rest of the buckets null
3) Use this new key figure in the disaggregation mode, disaggregate based on other stored key figures.
Maintain Values in KF1 (As shown in the below picture) and use this KF1 in the disaggregation mode to split the values as required from aggregated level to disaggregated level. This gives you additional functionality that on an Adhoc basis you can modify to be disaggregation values/ratio and so on.
When it comes to Time Profile if you are not making any changes to the period ID's it will not impact. you can create your own weighted attributes and assign to a time period or leverage the standard weighted attributes if it suits your requirement but be extra cautious before choosing this option because it will impact the existing data too. (Test it thoroughly and make a decision)
Thanks and Regards,
Lokesh

Hello Ebrahim
it is true that time based dissagg is either equal or based on weight factors. By default IBP time profile contains time based attributes like WEEKWEIGHT, MONTHWEIGHT etc. This attributes are used in KF where you want the values to be dissagged based on the weitghtage maintained in those attributes. For example in a KF @WKPRODLOC if you use the WEEKWEIGHT as the factor then and values that are dropped at any aggregate level of time like CALWK or MTH, will be splitted based on the no of technical weeks that falls within the period. If a MTH has 5 TWK then value of 5 is represented in the WEEKWEIGHT attriibute.
But we can also define any custom weightage for time split if thier are any specific business requirement. For example 1 common use of such scenario is creating custom time profile based on 445 retail calendar or for fiscal period based calender. In thise cases we have define and populate the time period start and end, along with TP level and custom weightage to determine a retail month to retail week or fiscal period to appropiate fiscal weekly period.
Yes it is right that you can upload TP with replace mode only. But I dont see any challenge in that. Only thing that you need to keep in mind is, anything that you define custom is time profiles can be generated using the time period generation program in IBP. Ideally for such cases you either create a very long time profile horizon and generate those custom range in excel or outside IBP and then load it. Or you need to make sure that you keep on updating your custom TP with extended hozizon objects generated and never to use the standard program to generate time periods.
Hope this helps
