Packaging material determination in the outbound delivery

Hi there,

I want that during packing the packaging material is determined. I tried, if the Packaging specification is in the ODO, under the "Possible destination HUs" tab the packaging material appears and I can create the HU with one click.

However, the packaging specification has to be determined. I maintained the packaging material determination condition 0OBD for the document type PDO, the same condition i maintained in the packaging specification. Yet, the packaging specification is not determined at the creation of the ODO.

Is there any setting missing? Should the determination run at the creation of the ODO in S4 Hana? (The SAP description only mentions packaging material determination for the OD, in german i would understand it as FD, not as ODO, but that process would´t make sense for me).

Is there any FM I could debug to find out if the determination is running for packaging specification at all, if not, why not, and if it is, then why doesn´t it find anything?

UPDATE:

In the meantime I found that in order to get the packaging material, the determination can run at the time I click on the "Possible destination-HUs" tab too. I also found that I might use the VAS process to get packaging specification at the packing. Could anyone verify that this is the only way?

What I am trying to understand is this help page about determining packaging specification. This doesn't mention VAS process at all.

Hi Tamas, I know this is an old question but I have a similar issue and wondering if you came across any solution. We are in embedded EWM and there is no "Possible destination HUs" on ODO. Thanks
