We defined the storage type as 9025 Goods Issue and Packaging because a work center cannot be assigned to storage type 9020, and we assigned the PACK activity to the work center.

To improve packing performance, you can activate soft state mode for OData service PACK_OUTBDLV_SRV.

Prerequisites Set Service Data

1. Open the transaction SICF.
2. Choose the node of your Gateway service e.g. under sap/opu/odata/scwm/pack_outbdlv_srv.
3. Select the tab Service Data. Make sure that the inactivity session time-out for your service is greater than 00:00:00. However, too large session time-out is not expected. During development and testing, we set this value to 00:00:30.

Activate Soft State Mode

1. Open the transaction /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE , The soft state status of the service is displayed with one of the following values: Active, Inactive, Not Supported or empty.
2. To activate soft state, choose button Soft State button. For more information, see SAP note 1986626.

In the Pack Outbound Delivery application, you can see a button that reports damaged products during packing. To activate this, the storage type customization should be as follows.

1. Customizing Access Codes
   The purpose of this customization is to perform certain tasks more quickly using shortcut buttons.

Tasks:
• Create a HU (Handling Unit)
• Delete a HU
• Pack Only One Item
• Pack All Items

1. Selecting Favorite Packaging Materials
   With this customization, the most frequently used packaging materials can be displayed as buttons on the screen, allowing warehouse staff to select the desired packaging materials more quickly

Define Favorite Packaging Materials under SCM Extended Warehouse Management -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Work Center

• Test Scenario

Firstly do picking process

Go to fiori screen “packaging delivery”

There are two different packing modes:

1. Advanced
2. Basic

We will proceed with the example using the advanced packing mode.

Enter the delivery in the reference number field and press the Enter button. The packaging material creation screen will appear. Here, you can select a favorite packaging material or choose other packaging materials.

Select the material and click the Pack button.

The gross weight can be entered. By clicking the settings icon, more details about the material can be displayed.

Click the Close button to complete the packing process.
