Hi All,

I have a storage location which is managed by EWM.

Now I have a requirement that user wants to keep the non-stock Items in the warehouse (Don't know why).

I want to understand the process, Inbound delivery will be created but what will happen if we don't have a material number? somethings they create a material and sometimes its a text (text item with LA) for example.

What would be the inbound process in case we have a material number and if we don't have a material?

If there's no material number, you cannot handle the material directly in EWM.

1. The question is: Do the goods have to be handled in EWM?

--> If yes: Do they have to be handled based on pieces in EWM? If yes, go to step 2.

--> If No, go to question 3.

2. Do the goods have to be handled in EWM on a HU basis (pallets, cartons) and no repacking has to be done?

--> If yes: handle the goods via HUs with your own HU identification as a free text to identify the HU contents.

--> If no: Go to question 3.

3. Do the goods have to be handled in IM/SD?

You can create text items in deliveries and purchasing orders OR use material type NLAG for this. Then you can do GR postings, but they will not be sent to EWM and they will not be posted quantity-wise, only value-wise (i.e. purchasing order item value).

When you say non-stock --it means you do not track inventory in any form EMW or IM--it does not matter how and what you are purchasing if it is non-stock means it will not track on a quantity basis-- Non-stock means non-stock e.g. Service you can not put in any warehouse

Keep in mind if you keep items on a quantity basis anywhere you are also putting in extra FTE hours to upstream to make material code exist (if there is no material code then there is no tracking) and required to perform the transactions required to reduce the stock no matter whether you manage at the IM level or EWM. If still need materials that need to be tracked only quantity basis then do not call it non-stock -you can use material type UNBW to create material codes.

if you add EWM to the mix --then you are also signing up more FTE hours to set up the product master data of the Warehouse to move the stocks in the EWM side along with extra efforts of inbound delivery, Warehouse Orders, BINs, Goods receipt etc.

Determine the real business reason and also put some thoughts on the challenges the business will face if this goes this route. Everything is not a SAP solution you have to use your knowledge and consulting skills in such cases.

Hi AAkash1,

I would suggest use, material type NLAG and create material so that they can bill/invoice if they want...

=> Inbound delivery would create then good receipt in migo or vl3*n, there will be no EWM warehouse request would create in this case(No EWM Process) .

Please let us know if further questions.

Kind Regards,

Ajit
