Dear Experts,
I was trying to practice on the IBP demo system. But unfortunately, I am not able to use "New View" --> "From template" in IBP excel add-on.
It says errors like this:
No templates in planning area XXXXXXXX. If you have the permission, add templates, else ask your template administrator to do so.
1. I did a research and looks like the Ids I am using don’t have "TEMPLATE_PERMISSION" from parameter group "PLAN_VIEW" in Global Configuration
2. I tried to add the TEMPLATE_PERMISSION into PLAN_VIEW under the users inManage Global Configuration, but I am not able find the TEMPLATE_PERMISSION in the Parameter Name dropdown list.
Could you kindly suggest if I should use any other ID with specific role/permission for this or I missed anything in configuration?

Hi Yanbing,
The error message is not related to the global parameter mentioned. Either your user does not have the necessary business catalogs on its business role assigned, or you simply don't have any templates saved in the system yet, then you should create and save templates as an admin first.

Ivan

Hi Ivan,
I tried to look for the place where I could add template. I got following help in portal. Looks like my id doesn't have Template Admin permission and not in that group either.
Hi Yanbing,
You (or an admin in case you are not), need to check the business role assigned to your business user. In case this role does not have "Unrestricted" privileges, you need to assign PV_TMPLT value in the Administration Functions Area for Write section. In that way, your user will be able to ADD new templates so you can start using the system in the Excel UI. Again, in case there are no templates saved by anyone yet.
Best,
Ivan
Hi Ivan
The role assigned to my business user looks good. I just tried to open the excel planning template directly that could add the template in "Template Admin" in Excel IBP add-on.
I was playing best practice and downloaded the Best Practice Planning View templates .xlm files.
Thanks for helping.
Hi,
SAP Help says in par of Planning View Templates ->
Users with appropriate permissions can add new templates and edit or delete existing templates. We recommend assigning these permissions only to template administrators and not to all end users.
I think, that you should see templates anyhow, if there are templates.
Your screenshot does not show the whole Excel menu, e.g.: 'Temaplate Admin' group. Could you attach again a screenshot?
Best,
Melinda

Thanks everyone's help. Following steps work for me.
1. Directly double click on the Best Practice Planning View template .xlm file
2. Logon IBP Excel Add-on
3. Use "Template Admin" menu to add the template

Hello
i have the same problem regarding the "No templates in planning area XXXX" after that I have copied a new planning area from the sample area SAP6 DEMAND. Can you please explain, what did you mean with the 1. point "The Best Practice Planning View Template.xml file"? Where can i find it?
Best
Hi Levent,
It means that he had the template saved on an Offline Excel file, then he logged into the IBP system with the Excel add-in and add it finally as an Online template in the system.
For your issue, please refer to my answer on March 21th, and let me know in case you still have issues afterwards.
Best,
Ivan
Hi,
If you are working on custom planning area, templates not copied.
Option 1:
You can create your own template based on requirement.
Option: 2
SAP best practice provided templates, you can use those templates. This option is very easy to reuse the existing template format, open the template and log on to IBP add a template to your favorite or template console.
Make sure you have relevant permissions to create and change the templates.
Best Regards,
Lingaiah

Hi,
Do you already have any templates added to your planning area?
