Moving a whole Consolidation Group within a Hierarchy, is it possible?

Hi,

Can I move a whole Consolidation Group, with all of its Consolidation Units from one hierarchy node to another?

I thought this was possible, but it has been suggested that I need to create a new Cons Group, with a new Key

e.g:

scenario 1 - a new node CG500 at the upper level

BEFORE:

CG100

-CG200

--CG300

---CU1

-CG400

--CU2

--CU3

AFTER

CG100

-CG500 - is this possible or does it need new keys in place of CG200, CG300 and CG400?

--CG200

---CG300

----CU1

--CG400

---CU2

---CU3

scenario 2 - assign CG300 to a new node

BEFORE:

CG100

-CG200

--CG300

---CU1

-CG400

--CU2

--CU3

AFTER

CG100

-CG200

-CG400

--CU2

--CU3

--CG300 - is this possible or does it need a new key, such as CG301, and assign CU1 below?

---CU1

Hello Monty,

I hope all is well.

For both scenarios SAP would certainly suggest a new cons group. However I do not see the need for one in scenario 1, but definitely need new cons group for scenario 2.

I have a file from SAP that I will send to your email address (if it hasn't changed). The file is specific to moving cons units and cons group for BCS.

I hope this helps but if not please clarify the requirements in this thread for further discussion.

Take care,

Dan
