Message no. BMG140The material number is longer than the length set

Whenever i use MM02 and MM03 , After entering the Material Number .

It shows the Error Message No. BMG140 The Material number is longer than the length set.

and also i checked Material Number its having only four digits.

please help me to solve the error.

Hello,

Run transaction OMSL and check Material No. Length value (i.e. change to 40)

Also refer SAP KBA on it

2922763 - MATNR: CONVERSION_EXIT_MATN1_INPUT returns error BMG 140
