Master production order Integration with SAP EWM

Dear all,

For our Fashion Client, one master production order can be created to perform multiple size and dimension combinations for the reasons of optimizing the overall production process. To accommodate this, we will be using the grouping of variant production orders into Master Production Orders standard SAP PP object and support execution of production of SKUs/variants together.

However in SAP EWM we will be using the standard Advanced production integration with PMR for material staging.

From our undestanding and after some tests performed in our sandbox, there is No Master PMR object in SAP EWM at the same level of Master Production Order. SAP creates one PMR object for each variant production order, which means :

- Staging at variant production order level and not master production order level

- Consumption in EWM at variant production order level not master production order level

- Production declaration in EWM at variant production order level not master production order level

Can you please confirm if there is a way in SAP EWM to have this Master production order reference and be able to perform staging and consumption at Master production order level and not variant production order level ?

Thank you in advance,

Regards.

Marwan.

Hello Marwan,

I’ve recently had a project using variable material numbers in production processes and we integrated via API(Advanced Production Integration) they had a similar process involving painted products. To manage painting of materials of the same color they utilized standard transaction MILL_OC to combine multiple production orders into a combined production order. Obviously this would replace the Master Production Order in your process however it seems to have similar intent. When the combined order is released and WM staging is performed the combined order is represented in EWM as an aggregate of the underlying production order components. Since the PMR is representing the combined aggregate quantities the staging can also be accomplished at an aggregate level (single/cross order) and consumption via EWM or backflush after operation confirmation. Consumption is posted against the combined order however when the inbound from production is created the reference document is to the individual production orders and the GR is in turn posted with reference to the individual orders. Alternatively you can also stage multiple production orders to the same PSA utilizing cross-order staging which can accomplish the aggregate staging from an operations standpoint in the warehouse.

Take a look at the blog below related to MILL_OC

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your insights, i did a test in our sandbox and one PMR is generated for the combined order.

It seems to answer my requirement from EWM point of view, i will cross check with production team to see if it can be used to replace the production master order object created with transaction FSH_PCW - Production Control Workbench

Hi Jason,

Checked with production team,

As we are using S4/HANA for Fashion and Vertical Business and as a best practice, the master production order should be used for fashion industry rather than combined production order as it offers more features linked to fashion.

Unfortunately when the Master production order is released, EWM generates as many PMR as we have variants of production order assigned to the Master production order.
