Master Data to use in both "Time series" and "Order based" planning areas

Hi All,

I learnt there is the possibility in IBP to use the same set of data for time series and order based planning areas.

Anyway, now it seems no possible to manage on the Response planning area some Master Data, like "Batch", "BatchProduct", "Source Customer Validity", "Source Location validity", "Source Production Validity".
Do you confirm this? Is it possible to manage in someway them on the Response planning area?

well, easiest way to find out is always to check in your system, go to the sample planning area and search for KF called "...Batch"... and find - nothing 🙂

SAP74 does NOT provide all functionalities that SAP4 or unified planning area provides.

You can still enhance it if you feel you need to, but be aware that anything around Batches works with LCode, so if you need that you should go with unified planning area.

plus, you will find in the application help of online documentation a very good documentation on what is part of SAP7 and SAP74, same for unified planning area: go to Business Applications --> find Timeseries Based Supply Plannning (for unified planning area) and/or Orderbased Planning, then "Setting up orderbased .." --> "Setting up..." --> "Sample Planning Areas for orderbased planning". Rest is self-explaining

thanks for your answer.
Anyway, maybe a misundertanding. The question is if those features already available in SAP4 for TS planning, like "Batch", "BatchProduct", "Source Customer Validity", "Source Location validity", "Source Production Validity" are also supported in SAP74 - for the TIME SERIES planning (I already knew that these Master Data can not be used in Order-Based planning).

This because looking the SAP library is specified as Only the minimal set of attributes for the mentioned processes are included in SAP74. For example, Lot-Sizing Procedure (LOTSIZEPOLICY), which is part of SAP4, is not supported by SAP74. " but no other details for that.

Hi Vivek

The order based model for Response can be enhanced by time series data. But that does not mean those can be used for Response processes

The data you mentioned can NOT be used in orderbased planning

SAP7 contains those onjects that are really be used, plzs customer

SAP74 already has sone that can only be used for TS

See the online help under Response, there is somewherea subchapter on the sample models

Do you know if master data I mentioned in my question, like "Batch", "BatchProduct", "Source Customer Validity", "Source Location validity", "Source Production Validity" are supported?
Could you please give me the list of not-supported in the SAP74 Planning Area?

Hi Vivek,

SAP 74 planning area is capable of TS and order based planning.

The SAP74 sample planning area combines the SAP7 sample planning area with the supply planning sample planning area SAP4, enabling you to run the time-series-based supply planning algorithms (TS-based supply algorithms) and the order-based planning runs on the same operational master data.
