Hello,

in the master data "customer source" I found the attribut "Mandatory Attribute Source Customer" (MATTRSOURCECUSTOMER)

on the sap.help page I can't find the definition of this attribut. Can you give me an explanation of this attribut.

Thanks in advance.

Oliver

Hello Oliver,

This Attribute is a Mandatory Attribute added by default to Planning Level PERPRODLOCCUST (see Sample Planning Area SAP4). Mandatory Attributes are relevant for both Data Integration jobs and new Planning Objects creation:

  • Relevant for Data Integration: Key figure records for which no attribute value is found (that is, where the master data records are missing) are rejected.
  • Relevant for New Planning Objects: If no attribute value is found (that is, the master data records are missing), the planning object is omitted from the new set of planning objects.

So in the example of Attribute MATTRSOURCECUSTOMER assigned to Planning Level PERPRODLOCCUST, it means that if a PRDID - LOCID - CUSTID combination doesn't exist in MDT Customer Source, the planning object cannot be generated.

You may find more details in the Model Configuration Guide - Validate Master Data for New Planning Objects.

Similar Attributes in SAP4 also exist for MDTs Production Resource, Production Source Item, Location Source and Production Source Header.

Best regards,
Matheus

Hi Oliver,

Let me try to clarify some points about the combinations I'm referring to:

  • Planning objects: these are combinations at a specific Planning Level that are stored in the backend. In your case, the relevant Planning Level is PERPRODLOCCUST because it's where the Attribute MATTRSOURCECUSTOMER is assigned. This means that the planning object combination in question here is defined at Product ID - Location ID - Customer ID (because they are the Root Attributes of PL PERPRODLOCCUST).
How to see if it exists: Excel --> Master Data Workbook --> Planning Objects with Key Figure Data --> Select the relevant Planning level PERPRODLOCCUST. Here you find only the planning object combinations that exist in a specific Planning Level.
  • Master Data: these are combination defined in a Master Data Type. In your case, the relevant MDT is Customer Source of Supply because it's the MDT the Attribute MATTRSOURCECUSTOMER belongs to.
How to see if it exists:

Excel --> Master Data Workbook --> Master Data --> Select the relevant MDT Customer Source of Supply. Here you find only the Master Data combinations that exist in a specific MDT.

Now what happens during a Data Integration job or when creating new planning objects are as follows, as documented in the Model Configuration Guide - Validate Master Data for New Planning Objects:

  • Relevant for Data Integration: Key figure records for which no Attribute value is found (that is, where the Master Data records are missing) are rejected. This refers to the Key Attributes: Product ID, Location ID and Customer ID.
  • Relevant for New Planning Objects: If no Attribute value is found (that is, the Master Data records are missing), the planning object is omitted from the new set of planning objects. Same logic from previous point.

I hope this clarifies your doubts.

Best regards,
Matheus

Hello Matheus,

thanks for the response. In this case, I have a general question. I wrote, that it have to exist a combination of PRDID-LOCID-CUSTID.

But how can I see, if the combiantion exist? In APO It the combination were visible.

And a further question of this topic is, that in my Masterdata this attribut value is empty. And it was still possible to upload new Master Data in my Planning Area, How is this possible and what are the values, which are in this attribut values standing? Can you give me please an example of an attribut value which is not empty.

Regards

Oliver

Hi Oliver,

The Master Data combination can be looked at the MDT the Attribute MATTRSOURCECUSTOMER is defined at, which in this case is MDT Customer Source. On the other hand, the planning object can be seen in Excel --> Master Data Workbook --> Planning Objects with Key Figure Data --> Select the relevant Planning level PRDID - LOCID - CUSTID (where the Attribute MATTRSOURCECUSTOMER was added).

I don't think this Attribute should have any value uploaded. It's required to simply exist in the Planning Levels it was assigned.

Matheus
