Mandator EWM stock type per storage location and number of storage locations

Hello EWM experts,

Can you please advice if it is mandatory to create following 5 EWM stock types per availability group (storage location)

• Unrestricted
• Quality
• Blocked
• Blocked stock returns
• Block stock for scrapping

Further, if there are 15 storage locations and hence 15 availability groups, will it require to create 75 EWM stock types (15 storage locations X 5 EWM stock type per storage location)?

If this is true, it appears to be very large number of EWM stock types.

Is there any downside for such a large number of EWM stock types?

In the example above, all 15 storage locations are connected to one EWM warehouse.

Hi Chaitanya, no. You can create only stock types which are really needed.
In case something is missing EWM would raise an error message during posting.
jsut for example:
you have storage location A with FF and QQ, and storage location B with only FF customized
You wont be able to post QQ stock from A to B, keeping QQ.

Only negative effect from many stock types is a selection for user (hard to remember all stock types, harder to search in a search help). And if you use stock type in the strategies, queues, you would need to customize more options. Anyway if Blocked stock not needed in storage location 1234 I would rather not customize it.
