Managing Characteristic Changes for a Single SFC in SAP DM

I am trying to execute a process using SAP DM, and the scenario is as follows:

I have an SFC, which inherits characteristics from its main order. One of these characteristics may change based on an analysis conducted on the shop floor. Even if an order generates 100 SFCs, I want to modify the characteristic for only one specific SFC and confirm the process accordingly.

Potential Solution:

As far as I know, batch characteristics can be modified at the SFC level. The batch characteristics assigned to the order are copied to each SFC upon creation. If necessary, I can update the characteristic for a single SFC in this manner, allowing ERP to recognize the change through standard processes.

Ultimately, while I have a potential solution, I would like to know if there is a more efficient way to manage this process using SAP DM standards.
