Maintain container with or without container unit

Hi all, I know with the multimodal functionality in SAP S/4HANA 2023 FSP02, we can create/assign containers and initiate creation of freight orders for pick up and delivery. I can see a number (like an internaly number of 10000) being assigned for each containers created. Can I check whether there is a way for me to view the container details outside of the freight booking app? Is there an app to view this?

I also have a requirement to have the containers created first and assigned later when the FUs are created due to special customer scenario. Is there a way for me to create the containers as an independent object first? I have been playing with container units and was able to create container units with the containers underneath. I was able to introduce multiple stops and assign the different legs to freight orders and freight bookings to track the movements of the containers. However, I am wondering whether I can achieve the same without the use of TU, i.e. container units?

Appreciate clarifications on the above.

Cheers

Hi @SFC ,

My previous post was for physical tracking inside the business premises...

"Can I check whether there is a way for me to view the container details outside of the freight booking app? Is there an app to view this?" " Is there a way for me to create the containers as an independent object first?"

-> These below apps to create explicit container unit then assign resource and registration/Container serial number... for tracking

"However, I am wondering whether I can achieve the same without the use of TU, i.e. container units?"->  May be yes or no, Personally I see the benefit of plan or track with exact container code (Registration Number maintained in )

Assign to resource and Registration Number would be benefit in planning and also if business wants to plan and track things in yard (Complete physical movement / fully track without any delay...), you can add yard logistics and you can benefit (see available check-in/check out/empty/loaded/loading process/cleaning/...etc in yard).

Please let us know if you have further questions...

Kind Regards,

Ajit

Hi Ajit, thanks for the screenshot. So, it seems that I still have to use the container unit and I did had a go with that prior to your response so was good to get confirmation from your end.
