Looking for best practices on restricting order changes when connected to an MES

We are sending production orders to an MES and want to restrict certain changes when production has started running. We're considering having MES send a confirmation message with zero quantity to set the status to PCNF. However, by default, PCNF allows changes to the order, including dates and quantities.

If we use this method, we would likely have to change the configuration of PCNF to restrict these changes.

My question is, is this the best practice or are there better ways to accomplish this?

Greetings,

I think SAP per standard supports integration to ME systems.

I would by all means avoid mingling with SAP system statuses.

Best regards, M.

Hello @BarryGilbert

You can implement own validation logic of production order changes with the BD_MFGORDER_CHECK_BEFORE_SAVE BAdI enhancement.

In my opinion it is cleaner than modifying SAP standard status configurations.

Thanks, Dominik. I don't think this would be clean core, though. My project is very strict about clean core.

Still I think that the BD_MFGORDER_CHECK_BEFORE_SAVE BAdI enhancement is cleaner as compared to messing up SAP standard status configurations.
