Location that does not supply but just only receives goods causes a problem?

Hi experts,

I would like to ask if time series based supply planning heuristic calculates the whole supply chain network without fatal error in a supply chain model mentioned below;

There are two locations; Location A and Location B. Location A is a warehouse that receipt products from other sourcing plants and supply them with Location B. Location B is also a warehouse that receives products from location A and exports them to foreign branches. The point to be mentioned here is if heuristic runs properly despite the location B does not supply any goods and just receive goods from location A. (The reason why foreign locations are not set as an another location is just because of my customer's requirement. )

Warm regards,

Hi,

I guess there should not be any problem. It is simplified network with DC's and Vendors. In this case, you need to release the forecast as "Independent Demand" which is on Product-location level instead of "Consensus Demand" which is on Product-Customer Level. Then you don't need master data like Customer-Product, Customer Source etc.. and customer related key figures.Then rest everything is required and run S&OP Heuristic operator.

Do you have any specific questions?

Hi Revanappa,

thank you for your quick response. Can I ask you additional question, plz? How about the following situation that there is a warehouse that does not have any connection with supplier? I would like to ask you the following two questions.

Q1: Based on the demand of customer and stock situation, does the heuristic properly calculate the amount of product/resource that warehouse without connection of supplier should get from supplier?

Q2: I know that there is an attribute called LOCATIONTYPE that defines the type of location(DC/Plant/and so on). Is my understanding right that whatever the value of LOCATIONTYPE of the warehouse mentioned below is, it does not matter when running SOP heuristic?

Best Regards,
