Does anyone have details about the load consolidation functionality shown in the directions update of the NOV 2018 roadmap?

By when is it expected to be released? What is the use case?

The load consolidation topic is about building feasible loads for Distribution. Load Consolidation is part of IBP longer term roadmap (12+ month). This will group multiple shipments into one considering constraints like volume, weight or pallet count. A close interaction to transportation planning in SAP Transportation Management and execution in SAP S/4 is foreseen.
