Label printing with mobile printer

Hi all,

we want to use mobile data entry with ITSmobile in one of our outdoor storages.

Our mobile Android devices from HoneyWell are already configured. We use sim cards to get a internet connection.

To print labels we want to use mobile printers that are connected to the mobile devices via bluetooth.

Our condition records for printing are already set, so we can maintain the printer depending on the resource.

If I understand it correctly we need to configure the mobile printers in transaction SPAD and then we can maintain the printers in the condition records for printing.

As mentioned above the mobile printers are connected with the mobile devices via bluetooth. Is it possible to configure these printers in SAP?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Julian

Hello all,

I would like to give an update and also have a few new questions.

As described above we use mobile devices with SIM cards in an outside area .

The mobile device currently logs in to SAP EWM RF via ITSmobile Service.

A mobile printer is connected to the mobile device via bluetooth.

Our goal: Spool requests (PDF files) that are created during picking via PPF action should be sent to the browser on the mobile device so that we can print the files on the mobile printer.

But as described in the following post, ITSmobile cannot deal with PDF files for printing => https://answers.sap.com/questions/13410437/front-end-printing-using-its-mobile-service.html

Is this still up to date or is there a way to implement that?

Instead of using ITSmobile we did a new test via WEBGUI (SAP GUI for HTML).

  1. Creating a new printer in transaction SPAD with Device Type "PDF1" and Access Method "G".
  2. Maintaining the printer in the condition record for printing.
  3. Enhancement of the function module that is used in picking transaction: Output the spool request via function module RSPO_OUTPUT_SPOOL_REQUEST

Then the PDF file will be opened automatically in the browser and can be printed.

Are there any disadvantages if we use SAP GUI for HTML instead of ITSmobile on our mobile devices?

Thank you in advance.

Regards

Julian

Hello Julian,

I would like to bring to your attention about our warehouse mobile solution (including mobile printer) for SAP. Beyond-RF is an SAP Certified Solution currently available in SAP Store, detail available in this link. Here are some of key features of Beyond-RF for label printing:

  • User can connect any mobile printer or fixed printer with Beyond-RF mobile app and then print label from app
  • Printer doesn’t require any SAP configuration such as SPAD configuration
  • It’s a native solution, app notify user about printer status such as out of media, door open or loss of bluetooth connection etc
  • It works offline as print communication happened via Bluetooth
  • End-to-end data encryption best suit to access SAP data outside your corporate firewall

The approach you mentioned above, exposing ITs ICF mobile Service or Web GUI to internet (outside your corporate firewall) require IT security arrangement. Refer this blog, though the blog mentioned about Fiori clients, but similar approach can be follow for ITs ICF service or Web GUI.

Please contact us through SAP Store, will provide you detail information. Thank you.

Hello Yodptech, did you or anyone else solve this already?

I'm facing the same requirement at customer. Zebra ET45 (4G) with BT connected ZQ500. If developing in WEBGUI is the solution I'm okay with that but want to know upfront if this indeed will solve the printing in this case. Scenario in an outdoor environment with no WIFI. Therefore 4G terminal with BT connected labelprinter.

Curious for your answer.

Kind regards,
