Issues when Merging Planning Areas

Hi Experts,

We are trying to merge SAP5 PA (source) with ZSAPIBP1 PA(target), a partial copy of SAPIBP1 with S&OP and IO modules. The aim of this exercise is to keep the configuration of the target planning area, add new configuration from the source planning area, and updates the intersect configuration in the target planning area based on the source planning area. However we receive the following error when electing the target planning area: "No planning area meets the requirements of a target planning area."

SAP note 2508272 suggested that we perform the following prerequisites for a successful merge:

1. The source and the target planning areas must contain the same set of master data types and the master data types must have identical prefixes and IDs.

This is currently not possible as you can't assign the same prefix for MD types to two PAs.

2. The source and the target planning area must have the same storage time profile level.

3. The time profile in the source planning area and the time profile in the target planning area have the same number of time profile level.

4. The target planning area is active

May you please assist as in our attempts to successfully merge the two PAs.

Thank you and kind regards

Malebo Rabalao

Hi Mahlako,

For merging two PAs all the above points from note 2508272 should be met, otherwise merge is not possible. However, you can perform this workaround for merging SAP5 & ZSAPIBP1:

1. Go to App - "Compare Planning Area". Select source as SAP5 and target as ZSAPIBP1

2. In the top right corner from the drop-down select 2nd option (only difference in SAP5)

3. Download the CSV

4. You will now have the list of KFs and other objects which are missing, based on your requirement create those KFs in ZSAPIBP1 manually.

A sample comparison of KFs in SAP5 & SAPIBP1 is attached for reference.
