Is SAP Stock Room Management compatible with Handling Unit Management and Serial Number Management?

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a project involving SAP Stock Room Management in S/4HANA. I would like to confirm whether Stock Room Management is fully compatible with Handling Unit Management (HUM),  Serial Number Management functionalities and Fiori applications. 

From the SAP documentation, it is not fully clear whether it's compatible or not.

Has anyone successfully implemented HUM and Serial Number Management with Stock Room Management?

Any official SAP reference or clarification would be highly appreciated!

Stock Room Management is a gutted version of LE-WM, as it excludes some functionalities - as per note 3307988 - Central KBA for Stock Room Management

Technically the features are still there but they must not be used anymore. As you see integration with Handling Units Management is not excluded. 

LE-WM / Stock Room Management and Handling Units Management are two separate, independent functionalities. HUM links to LE-WM through storage units - top-level handling units are mapped to storage units. In general, HUM works nice with LE-WM, besides physical inventory processes where the integration breaks down - see the note 2358826 - L3 867 error during Physical Inventory process.

So i understand that HUM should work well with SRM as it's not excluded from the list and as the code for WM and SRM is the same and we need to pay attention and deep dive the serial number scenario ..

What about Fiori ? any idea ?

As Stock Room Management is just a fancy name for LE-WM, I would not expect any Fiori apps here.

In short, you should definitely go for with EWM. Stock Room Management should be considered only in case of S/4 brown field conversions with existing LE-WM implementations. Stock Room Management / LE-WM is still legally available in S/4. However I don't think it will last forever. Sooner or later SAP will kill LE-WM and force customers to migrate to EWM.

If you go with SRM, you will be confined to Serial Number Management (LO-MD-SN) and Handling Unit Management (LO-HU) that are hardly integrated with LE-WM / SRM. In contrast EWM gives you much better Handling Unit (HU) and Serial Number management.

Delivery integration with qRFC queues might be challenging at first. But once you get past that, you will endup with much better, much more functional and future proof solution.
