As a Master's Student working on a challenging problem in SAP WMS, I am currently facing a discrepancy related to inventory management. The situation arises from the fact that our company stores raw materials at a 3PL facility located 10 kilometers away from the main plant.
Complicating matters further, the raw materials have various variants based on their length. To illustrate, Material Number 2080 has three variants: 3m3m, 6m6m, and 9m*9m. Additionally, we encounter a difference in base units between our SAP system, which uses KG (kilograms), and the 3PL's ERP system, where the base unit is defined as Piece.
Moreover, the method of naming the materials differs between our systems. For instance, at the 3PL, materials are designated as SL 33 DV, ML 66 DV, and LL 99 DV, with SL representing Short Length, ML representing Medium Length, and LL representing Long Length. DV is an abbreviation for the company name.
Due to these differences in material naming and base units, inconsistencies have arisen in inventory levels between SAP and the warehouse at the 3PL.
I am seeking advice and possible solutions to address this inventory discrepancy and ensure seamless synchronization between the two systems. Any guidance and recommendations on how to resolve this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance

Hi Milan,
If the naming of materials are different and you are not doing material to material transfer in some of your scenario's, then you should not have to face any discrepency in inventory.as per details provided by you.
