Hello,
we think of Integration of one S/4 with several EWMs. The EWMs are based at the several plants in the countries, the S/4 is placed at the world wide headquater.
Is this possible and if yes how will the Integration work?
Thanks in advanced,

Hello Geert,
you can connect your S/4 HANA system to as many decentralized EWM systems as you want. You connect your plant/ storage location to a warehouse number in Logistics Execution (the old 3 digit warehouse number) and flag this warehouse as EWM warehouse. Then you do all the integration settings as usual. S/4 HANA behaves like a classic SAP ERP system here. The existing integration guides from the service marketplace are also valid here.
The standard communication between the central S/4 HANA system and the decentralized EWM systems is the qRFC.

Katrin

Additional:
As I already figured out, it is possible and it would work with RFCs, where the destination a Logical system is. But in all documents they talk about direct communication without SAP PI. Is there a certain reason why?

Hi Geert,
There is a background for EWM to use QRFCs to communicate. Core interface (CIF) is designed for SAP SCM to handle communication between ERP and SCM. In early years EWM development started on top of SCM solution. That's why EWM is using the CIF solution from the very beginning to communicate with ERP.
Still "SCM basis package" is required by EWM to operate. In S4HANA SCM basis package is also included by default in ERP suite.
If it is mandatory to use PI in your project. PI can be located as a proxy server in between ERP and EWM systems to track RFC calls.
