Implementing EDI messages 204 in an SAP S4/HANA embedded EWM without TM integrated

Hi SAP Experts,

I am working on a SAP S4/HANA embedded EWM without TM integrated(No shipments in VT01N are created for the STO’s). I have a requirement to begin sending EDI messages EDI – 204 Motor Carrier Load Tender to one of our carriers for full truckloads. The process I envision for this requirement is to send the EDI once the PGI has been completed and to include all the relevant HU information to the carrier in the EDI as this forwarder will sort the HU’s at their facility and then send them to their appropriate place of delivery. The carrier is a business partner in the system and is entered in the OD header under the partners tab as “SP Forwarding Agent”. The forwarder is using a Non SAP system.

I would need help with the below questions:

• 1. Is it required to create shipments in VT01N to be able to send EDI messages 204?
• 2. Should the EDI be triggered from EWM perhaps in the ODR rather then in the OD in S4.
• 3. Can anyone provide the configurations steps to implement EDI messages 204?

EDI – 204: Motor Carrier Load Tender

This transaction set can be used to allow shippers or other interested parties to offer a shipment to a full load (truckload) motor carrier. This message is used to transmit information related to detailed schedule of the shipment, Equipment Requirement like size of the required Truck, Ship to Party details like name, location and contact details. Material / goods with weight and volume information along with Unit of Measure and shipping instructions. It is not to be used to provide a motor carrier with data relative to a less-than-Truckload bill of lading, pickup notification, or manifest.

The carriers will send EDI-990 as a response to Load Tender transaction indicating acceptance or declination of the load.
