Impact from changing characteristic combinations

Dear Community,

In our business, today we have characteristic combinations built using distribution channel 'R2', and we read sales from ‘cube 20’ in BW, which only brings data for this channel ‘R2’. Example of one combination:

0DISTR_CHAN R2, 0DIVISION R6, 0SALESORG R200, 9ABRAND R0001, 9AMATNR 80626, 9ALOCNO V029, RCUST_SAL 43913

For all those channels different than ‘R2’, today we also read sales from ‘ods 31’ in BW.

In coming days, because of business reasons, we will stop using distribution channel ‘R2’, to start using distribution channel ‘R8’, and therefore, we will start reading sales only from mentioned ‘ods 31’ which will also include channel ‘R8’, and we think we will not read sales from ‘cube 20’ in BW anymore.

APO demand planners are aware they will have to create new characteristic combinations using distribution channel ‘R8’, but we are unsure about how both of those changes will impact business processes, i.e., sales, forecast, and so on... for those CVC built using channel ‘R2’; as well as what else we have to test.

I kindly appreciate all your guidelines and expertise on the impacts and how to proceed.
