Ignore Lot Size in Capacity Leveling

Dears,

Our planned orders are Sub-Optimal in the sense that lot sizes are not considered in the planning run.

We want capacity leveler (heuristic) to ignore the min/max lot size and rounding value etc. This may not sound scientific enough and perhaps defy the idea of capacity leveling, the idea behind is to do lot sizing in the heads afterwards. The material master gets lot size from ECC through CIF and we want it to be there for other purposes / programs in the future.

Thanks

Amit

Hello,

Hope you have assigned the lot size profile to the product master.

is your 1/1/1 working without the lotsize profile?

Hope you restart the //SDP94 transaction after the master data changes.

Thanks Rupesh and Abhishek,

This is brilliant.. Holy SNP Global Settings. Needle in a haystack. I made it work with lot size profile 1/1/1. But I think Rupesh's option is a neater one. We need to conserve lot size in prod master for whatever reasons going ahead given actual production indeed happens based on these lot sizes. Someone is taking it seriously here. Elsewhere some other experts said I need to modify the CIF user exit.

PS: I couldn't award points to both. So I went the socialist route. Pardon me Rupesh. and thanks Abhishek. I love doing MASSD at every given given opportunity. I changed lot size of 40000 materials today. Sadly I need to undo this and go the global setting route. The tiny little button that is set to consider lots.

Thanks

Thanks Abhishek

SNP Optimizer - considers lot sizes in PDS and T-Lanes. (NOT of MAT1).. My lot size in PDS/T-Lanes is 1 for both min and max

Capacity Leveling, the next step, tries to read the Lot Size Quantity and date determination fields from MAT1, despite I maintaining a lot size profile (of 1, 1, 1 for min, max, rounding) for the product

We have Lot Size min and max maintained in MAT1 for purposes other than immediate use in Planning.

We want the Capacity Leveling Heuristic or Optimizer to ignore the Lot size in Lot size tab but instead read from Lot Size Profile where I maintained the Lot size as 1... mix max and rounding but it doesn't. ONLY when I remove the min/max lot size from lot size tab, the capacity leveling 'levels' the planned orders. Else it just pushes out the planned order to last bucket in the data view. where the same overload situation exists.

Thanks

Amit

Hello,

In global parameter of SNP you can set the ignore lot size from optimizer.

Please set it to Do Not consider lot size setting and the run capacity by optimizer method and cross check the results.

Also refer the SAP notes given in F1 help of the Optimizer lot formation.

So how can SNP Linear Optimizer (that does not consider lot size) work with Capacity Leveling (that considers lot size)?

I didnt get your question. The F1 help of min and Max lot size clearly mentions how these fields are treated in Heuristic based planning and optimizer based planning. As per sap, Optimizer will create optimal lots based on cost functions, so maximum and min lotsize from material master are not important, but it considers max and min lot size data from the PDS and PPM.

You can create the Lot Size profile from /SAPAPO/MAT1 transaction. Select the radio buttons just below the location field.

Thanks Abhishek,

So how can SNP Linear Optimizer (that does not consider lot size) work with Capacity Leveling (that considers lot size)?

Secondly I note the maintain SNP Lot Size profile

S_AP9_75000095 - Define SNP Lot Size Profiles (Transportation Lanes)

is meant for T-Lanes and not for PDS. I was unable to assign (in MAT1) a profile I defined at the above node. Is there another node for defining lot size profile based on PDS?..whatever that means business-wise

Hello,

There is no setting in SNP capacity leveling or SNP heuristic to ignore the lotsize settings.

However you can create a lotsize profile and assign it to the product, the values maintained in the profile will be used for planning.

Alternately you can copy your data to a simulation version, delete the lot size data for this version, do your planning as required and copy it back to active version.

one more option could be explore is PPDS finite planning where you can overwrite the lotsize data from product master.
