IBP - TS Based Supply Planning Optimizer - Warning Messages related Finite heuristic

Hello All,

We have enabled "Use finite heuristic as start solution" option within TS Based S&OP Optimizer Profile. I have been noticing below warning messages in Optimizer application log.

FYI - We use discretization option with 12 cal weeks, "Profit Maximization Mode" and Numerical Focus is set to Soft.

What does below warning message indicates? What action is expected to eliminate below warnings?

1. W Finite heuristic does not support non-storable location products and customer products and probably can't provide a solution.

2. W The scenario has no discounting, which could have led to early demands not being fulfilled or fulfilled late, while later demands were fulfilled instead.

Please let me know incase you need any additional information.

Hello Satish,

when the finite heuristic is used as a start solution for the optimizer, these warnings can be treated as an information.

Even if the solution violates non-storing location products, it can still improve the optimizer performance, since only discrete decisions are taken over.

1. W Finite heuristic does not support non-storable location products and customer products and probably can't provide a solution.

- This one is most likely a bug which needs to be raised with SAP

- This warning is related to the optimizer parameter in others section when "Discount Non-Delivery and Late Delivery Costs" is not switched on. Switching it on comes with its own side effects. Check the below documentation for details.

Regarding

Finite heuristic does not support non-storable location products and customer products and probably can't provide a solution. -- See if attribute "Inventory Holding Policy" is set to 1 for product in Location-Product MDT. Try clearing this attribute values.
