IBP for Inventory Simulation and Optimization Not Running

Hello,

I'm having issues running the inventory optimizer, using the planning area SAP3 (of which I made a copy).  I've attached the screenshot of planning view with the IOForecast, ForecasterrorCV and target service level populated.

When I click the Simulate Multi Stage, I get a pop up that says "Error in refresh". I check the simulation messages and it says there are "No messages to show at this time".  I Simulate Single Stage, and nothing happens.  Recommended Safety stock does not populate.

Additionally, I run the optimizer and the job stays at "Ready".  So not sure if it actually ran.  There is no error log.

I've enabled the IO planning operators and turned off Change History. I would really appreciate any guidance.

Thanks,

Will

William,

I am replying to the top of the message so if anyone else has this issue they can see the solution right away.

Multi stage batch staying in ready state: This means that the job scheduler is not triggering the operator and so you should create a ticket with component SCM-IBP-JOB

Multi stage simulation: The issue was that inventory holding cost rate was not provided for any product location. See Favorite AB Check that I created for you. This is a good template to check if all the required inputs are populated or not for inventory. I always add IOFORECAST, IOFORECASTERRORCV, PBR, TLEADTIME, PLEADTIME, INVENTORYHOLDINGCOSTRATE, TARGETSERVICELEVEL and I filter the time to the current week only and at a product location granularity.

PBR and INVENTORYHOLDINGCOSTRATE must exist for all product locations

TARGETSERVICELEVEL must exist for all finished goods which have demand

TLEADTIME must exist for products that have transportation sourcing defined

PLEADTIME must exist for products that have production sourcing (including vendor sourcing) defined.

IOFORECAST and IOFORECASTERRORCV are optional but I include them in the view as it gives me the list of active FGs at a quick glance.

I added INVENTORYHOLDINGCOSTRATE values for current week via excel for all product. You should add it for future weeks as well as the weeks are rolling. Once this was saved, I changed the forecast and forecast error CV at one of the finished goods and the MS simulation was successful and provided the output values.

p.s. you can also define default values for all these key figures in configuration to handle the case that the stored value is null.

If the status says "Ready" and did not change, then the optimization and simulation are not getting triggered. You need to create a ticket as perhaps the job scheduler is not setup correctly.

Also, you must first run multi-stage batch before running single stage batch or simulation as single stage uses the outputs from multi-stage run. This is true even if you only have a single stage supply chain.

Multi stage simulation can be run at any time.

Thanks Atul.

So we have IBP 5.0 and and the SAP3 planning area default time profile is now daily, wk, m, y.  Can we use a weekly time profile?  I see in the planning views that the KF are greyed out when trying to edit/view at the daily level.

We saved the IOFORECAST & IOFORECASTCV data at the monthly level, but it disaggregates down to weekly level.  We then open the planning level at the weekly level view, and try and run the simulation, and it does not run.

I raised an OSS ticket on the Inv Opt run "stuck at ready" issue.

In 5.0, you are required to use the exact time profile of d, w, m, q, y. This was done to support a single planning area which may have daily as the lowest granularity. So your time profile will not work as it does not have q. This requirement is lifted in the upcoming 6.1 release and then any time profile will work as long as it has week in it. IO only runs at a weekly level.

Even in 5.0 with the d, w, m, q, y requirement, all the IO key figures are still at the weekly level. So to view them in excel planning view, you need to change the time selection to week (not days since they are not defined at daily).

The base planning level of IOFORECAST and IOFORECASTERRORCV must be at weekly level. You can view it at monthly and make changes and it will disaggregate to weekly. Try changing your time profile as above and then please try simulation again.

Thanks Atul,

We have maintained the key figures at the weekly level and am utilizing the d,w,m,q,y time profile. I have attached the planning view.  Simulation or Run still does not work.

The Support team only sent us a document "sap3_activatingAndLoadingData.docx", which is only relevant to IBP 4.0 and does not resolve our issue for IBP5.0.  We have done all these steps.  Is there anything I can do in global config to resolve this job scheduler issue?

Appreciate the help!

What component did you create the incident under? Please create another incident with component SCM-IBP-JOB for the batch mode operator remaining in ready status. For simulation, edit the existing incident to include the SID and other relevant information for the instance.

Thanks Atul.

I created it under

ComponentSCM-INV-PLA

     created 03.03.2016 - 15:28:26 CET

Shall I created another incident?  Looks like the support team is asking for the URL and SID already.

You can provide the URL and SID for the simulation issue under this ticket. However, you need to create a second ticket for the job scheduler not kicking off the batch mode and keeping it in ready status. Use SCM-IBP-JOB component for that.

For inventory, use SCM-IBP-INV component in the future.

Thanks Atul.    I created   IBP for Inventory Optimization Stuck at Ready ( 154390 / 2016 )

    created 03.03.2016 - 18:46:26 CET

under SCM-IBP-JOB,  and also in the future I will created other IBP 5.0 Inventory issues under SCM-IBP-INV.

Also side question, we do not have to create component information for Inv Opt to run, correct? So I can leave S3PRODUCTIONSOURCEITM_TEMPLATE  blank?   We'd like to just focus on FG for now.

Thank you,

Will

Hi William. Yes you do not have to but the right way to model this then would be to define Source Production records for the FGs of type U so they connect to a vendor in the data model.

FYI, I also noticed that you are using an older sample data set where the source id in Source Production is the same name as Product ID. This is ok for inventory operators but will prevent the network chart to display in analytics. If you are interested in creating the network chart, you need to change the name of the source id to be different from product id in Source Production and in Production Source Item. You will need to delete the older records. Again, does not impact inventory operators, only network chart.

Hi William,

It seems that the optimization job is not completed as it remains in the "Ready state" that's why the safety stock figures are not getting populated. If the problem persists in running the optimization algorithms then you should raise an OSS message to resolve the same.

Shwetank

Thank you.

How about the simulation?  Is there a reason the inventory optimization simulation does not run?
