HU selection in outbound delivery

Hello SAP Community,

I need your assistance with an issue related to the selection of handling units in outbound delivery.

The context is as follows:

Our customer's packaging operations take place at a completely different time from the shipping process. As a result, handling units are created well in advance of shipping, and even well in advance of all sales orders. The HUs will be associated with the item when the picking task is processed.

This management approach requires us to ensure that the operator can manually select the "Source handling unit" during the picking task. However, in the current system, it is not possible to manually define the "Source handling unit."

The objective is twofold: first, the system must be able, based on the handling units created in advance, to automatically suggest a unit for an item during the picking task. Secondly, the operator should be able to manually select a unit to assign to the product if the suggested unit does not meet the specified requirement.

Do you have any ideas on how to deal with this ?

I would see some options that you could further evaluate if they meet your exact requirements:

1. From the app Manage Outbound Delivery Orders you can navigate via Related Apps to the app Create Warehouse Tasks. There you can manually specify the HU to pick from
2. You can try to work with the BAdI Filtering and Sorting: Available Quantities for Stock Removal to determine a source storage bin with a suitable handling unit
