Hello,
I would like to know if we could use an SAP function to replace manual paper inventory forms we are using for a pharmaceutical manufacturing operation. The material in question is a controlled DEA drug raw material and we have to track the usage and consumption of each individual container within a lot. For example, if a lot of raw material consists of 10 containers, we issue 1 inventory form to each container. Each individual container within the lot has to be reconciled at the end of use and variance calculated. When we are audited by the DEA, they ask for the consumption of a lot of drug material by each container, not only the entire lot. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Sergio,
As per my understanding, SAP Batch Management would solve your purpose.
"For example, if a lot of raw material consists of 10 containers, we issue 1 inventory form to each container."
-> Could you please explore on SAP Batch Management
Example: Here in your case, it should generate 10 Batches associated with Raw Material in combination of LOT+Container identifier.
-> These Batches would flow when you do Transactions example Consumption....etc. etc
-> Reporting would easy while do reconcile ...need to enter Material and Batch (container).
In addition,
Please also explore below
-> SAP Serial Number Management
-> SAP Handling Unit.
Please let us know if you have further questions.
Kind Regards,
Ajit
