How to set rounding for picking only a full HU or bag, even if the BOM requires less?

Hello!
Do you know how to set a rounding rule or someting for picking that makes the system to generate a warehouse task for moving the full bag or the full handling unit to the PSA and not just the quantity required for the production order?

Example: An ingredient is stored in bags of 5kg. The recipe to be made requires 7 kg of that ingredient, which is the quantity required from production/the factory. The warehouse has to take two bags to the production supply area so the production people manage whatever they need. How to set the Cloud Public system so it generates a warehouse task for moving the full 2 bags and not only 7 kg?

Best regards

Hello,

you can set this up on the following levels:

Warehouse process type:

Storage type:

Hi Johannes! Thanks for your help on the rounding part of it. When I do that, the wt is to pick 1 kg, even when the required quantity is less.
But I need the wt to be for a whole bag (which has 5kg), not just for 1kg. Any ideia on how to do that?

Hi,

difficult to say without seeing all the data. Have you setup the quantity classification?

Please check the documentation:

Round Warehouse Task Quantity to Whole Units

Rounding warehouse tasks (WTs) to whole units.

Use

You can configure how the WT quantity should be rounded. You can do this at storage type level and in the warehouse process type.

You can set up the following rounding mechanisms:

  • Round down to a single unit
  • Round down to a multiple of a unit
  • Round up to a multiple of a unit.
  • Round to the available quantity in the source bin

The rounding logic is based on the following data:

  • A storage type can have an assigned quantity classifier for the warehouse, which would then be valid for all products in this storage type.
  • For each product, you can assign a quantity classifier for the warehouse in the product master, which then overrides the setting described above.

Process: If a WT was created and you have switched on rounding, the system checks the quantity classifier for the warehouse at storage type level, and in the product master. The system searches for a match in the configuration activity Define Unit of Measure Attributes and rounds the WT quantity according to the unit of measure that is maintained there.

Example

In bulk storage, you do not normally want to manage partial pallets. Partial pallets should be picked from a special partial pallet storage area. The following example should clarify the effects this switch can have on system behavior.

The requested quantity is 2.5 pallets. The quantity in the bin is 5 pallets:

  • Rounding up:
Causes a removal of 3 pallets
  • Round down to a multiple:
Causes a removal of 2 pallets. For the remaining half pallet, the system determines suitable stock using the storage type search.
  • Round down to a single unit:
Causes a removal of 1 pallet. For the remaining 1.5 pallets, the system determines suitable stock using the storage type search. The system finds the bulk storage area again, and another 1 pallet is removed using a second warehouse task. For the remaining half pallet, the system determines suitable stock using the storage type search. The attribute is used to avoid partial pallets, and to create individual warehouse tasks for each pallet during stock removal.

Thanks Johannes! It worked with the option "Round wt qt to available qt". Best regards

I have a similar situation and in food industry. The customer only wants to pull full pallets for picking for staging for production. I have the rounding set on the process type S220 staging for production. What I have found is that the rounding works when there is 1 batch on the pallet on the Handling Unit. If there are two batches for example the PMR is for 500lbs and the and the handling unit has two batches that are 1000lbs each it will round to the the first batch to the 1000lbs but not request the second batch be pulled for the entire HU. Anu thoughts on this? I would for it to pull the 2000lbs but it seems to be batch specific. They dont want this as a bulk storage. The storage type is standard storage allowing HU in the storage type. Any help on this would awesome

@castin, without testing the specific scenario I cannot say, if this will work somehow. I provide here a link with more information (not specific to public cloud). Perhaps that will help you. If not I would suggest to open a new question because this one is already solved and nobody will have a look at it. https://community.sap.com/t5/supply-chain-management-blogs-by-members/splitting-of-full-partial-pall...
