Hi Alicia,

Please check the editability horizon functionality.

Hi @alicia25 ,

When you say 'freeze', is the context a Stored, editable Key Figure, and do you mean that you want certain / all users to not be able to edit the Key Figures during certain months?

In that case, the most standard way to achieve this is by using the 'Editability Horizon for Key Figures'.

If you want to read up on the functionality, please refer to SAP Help > IBP > User Authorizations and Permissions > Data Filters > Editability Horizons for Key Figures > Manage Editability Horizons for Key Figures.

In order to accelerate your prorject, I will give you some quick implementation guidance here:
- Step 1: 'Create' in the IBP web-UI app 'Editability Horizon for Key Figures', for your Planning Area, and assign the Key Figure(s) you want to restrict there. For Horizon, choose your Time Period, for example 'Month', apply a Fixed Rule from Month 3 To Unlimited. Also, assign Users and/or Business Roles there. This way, those users will only be able to edit the months mentioned in your Fixed Rule.
- Step 2: In order for the above to be effective, for example for the relevant Business Roles, you will need to also go to the IBP web-UI app 'Maintain Business Roles',  go into 'Edit' > 'Maintain Restrictions', in 'GENERAL' > 'Editability Horizon', put a 'Write' restriction for the Editability Horizon you created in Step 1.

You could turn the 'Editability Horizon' on or off when needed.

If you have more information regarding the context of your freeze, please feel free to inform me, and then I could update my answer according to your specific context.

I hope this helped.

Kind regards,

@alicia25 , Here are the details, hope it helps

In SAP IBP (Integrated Business Planning), you can freeze a key figure for a specific period like March, April, and May by using the Key Figure Locking feature. Here's how you can approach it:

  1. Configure Lock Key Figure:

    • Create or identify a lock key figure that will act as a controlling indicator.
    • This key figure should have a binary value (1 = Locked, 0 = Unlocked).
  2. Planning Area Configuration:

    • Go to the Configuration for Planning Areas app.
    • Define the lock key figure in the planning area and assign the required time periods for the lock.
  3. Key Figure Calculations:

    • Create a Calculated Key Figure or Disaggregation Rule that references the lock key figure.
    • Use an IF condition to freeze the transfer key figure when the lock key figure is set to 1.
    • Example Expression:
      IF("Lock_KeyFigure" = 1, "Transfer_KeyFigure", "Editable_Transfer_KeyFigure")
  4. Data Integration:

    • Input the lock key figure values manually through the Excel UI or Fiori apps for the desired months.
    • Set the value to 1 for March, April, and May.
  5. Testing:

    • Perform testing by entering sample values for the key figure and validating that the key figure cannot be modified for the locked periods.
  6. Automation (Optional):

    • Use a time-based job to automatically set the lock key figure to 0 after the freeze period.

This method ensures that the key figure is only frozen for the specified period and automatically returns to editable status afterward.

I hope this helps.

Thank you,

@Andrei_Lupu, I understand, this is not my arena, i have other parts with me. Also think this way if SAP S/4 is using joule, why not ? remember the situation they post and they need answer if it resolved and helps why not and its a good learning for me. We need to adapt for sure not stay the same way !! Thank you for the understanding

SAP IBP is still an evolving tool with key updates being release every quarter.. Please lets not stuff it into chatgpt yet. Above response is utterly confusing to someone who has worked in IBP over a fair period of time now.
