how to Configure Stock Type Role

Hi EWM Experts,

Posting this question here for my answer.

I want to configure New Stock Type Role in EWM.

Reason for that is I want to create a stock type which should have all the same parameters (Availability group, Non Location Stock type), so to create new, as atleast 1 parameter should be different, we want to create new Stock type role.

Can you please help me here

Thanks for responding.

Basically what business wants is they want to create 2 more restricted stock type for the stock to classify whether this is stopped order or not.

And this is required to be in same Storage location

So lets say, I have 1 Stock type X3, then I need to create 2 more X4, X5 under same availabilty group with BB as Non Location dependent.

As we dont want to change anything in ECC.

These need to be restricted only to EWM

You need to create two storage location let say X401 and X501 and create corresponding availability group let say X40 and X50.

If you have specific storage types to store such stocks then assign newly created AVGRP to storage types.

SAP does not provide option to create new entries for stock type role, document category, item category etc. These are hard coded in the programs and many determination happens based on hard coded values in the programs.

and how system should decide from delivery which stock type should it be? Is it always manual posting?

Isn't it better to use some other stock attributes? I would not recommend to do such stuff without really good reasons.

what is your business requirement to create new stock type role?

I don't think SAP has provided option to create new stock type role.

It plays an important role while determination of stock type (F1/Q3/B5 etc.) based on availability group 001 for example. If we have one more stock type role for another stock type let say F3 then system won't be able to deicide which stock type it shall consider F1 or F3 for availability group 001 for example when an inbound delivery is created.

You need to elaborate more about your specific business need , so that you can get alternative solutions based on SAP standard.
