How to change attribute length in IBP Order-Based Planning with Flexible Master Data?

Currently PRDID attribute is being used in time-series planning but its length is more than 40 due to the business needs. When I am copying IBP OBP with Flexible Master Data from sample model entity SAP7F it is picking that attribute only. However, its activation is failing due to length of attribute being more than 40.

I checked in Business Meaning of Order-Based Planning app but there also there is no option to increase the length of the attribute to suit current length.

Kidnly tell me how can I accommodate the current PRDID attribute in IBP OBP with Flexible Master Data.

Hello Atul,

The length of standard attributes cannot be modified as they need to adhere to the syntactic model of Order Based Planning where each mandatory attribute should have specific datatypes and lengths to be accepted by OBP runs. You can, instead, create a custom attribute and add it to your Product master data. Then and use it in your excel planning views for data display purposes.

Thanks Gaurav! Same advice was given by SAP team as well. I just wanted to avoid too much manual intervention in order to avoid future issues.

Hi,

I have the same problem considering the MOTID attribute.

The activation is failing with message: Length of attribute MOTID shall not be greater than 10 in MDT AMOTLANE.

Did you find any way out for that problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Victor,

I had to created a new attribute with the required specification in Business Meaning for Order Based Planning app and replaced it with the existing one everywhere from master data types to planning levels.

You can refer Gaurav's answer for more clarity.
