How does the planning horizon works?

Im working in the automotive industry, specifically on the assembly line supply of materials.

I would like to know, how does changing the planning horizon affects the supply process of a material.

Any information regarding this parameter will be appreciated.

(pd. most of the materials here are set with 5:00 Hours of planning horizon)

Hi,

Planning horizon will be used to run the supply planning at different levels daily, weekly or monthly buckets. Based on the planning horizon supply and demand proposals generated.

Production lead time used to process the in-house production of material, in your case 5 hours considers as production lead time to complete the task or production activities.

In this case planning horizon will impact on the supply planning side.
