How can the Custom Fields and Logic and Custom Reusable Elements apps help users in IBP modules?

Trying to figure out the best use cases for the Extensibility applications for Integrated Business Planning. I can't find much documentation on best use cases for the specific extensibility apps such as Custom Fields and Logic & Custom Reusable Elements. Anyone have any use cases or insight? Thanks!
