handling units generated from a standard internal number range should be sequential, depending on the application server buffering (if you have different application servers each with their own buffer in numbers, the order might not be fully sequential).
For external number ranges or custom coding it depends on how you handle those, there is no sequence guaranteed.
Or do you mean something special with the "generator of handling units"?
