Full and partial Pallet Picking from same bin.

HI Community,
We have a requirement to pick 150 EA of a product.

UoM conversion maintained in Product Master
10 EA = 1 Carton
10 carton = 1 Pallet

During Picking, System creates 2 WTs
1 WT for Full Pallet Pick from Bin A (100 EA = 1 PAL)
1 WT for Partial Pick from another Bin B (50 EA = 5 CAR)

System should allow to pick 1 full pallet and one partial pallet from the same bin, rather than breaking the full pallet of another bin. How to achieve this in EWM?

Expectation: -
1 WT for 1 Pallet and another WT for 5 cartons picking from same bin.

Is following approach to solution is correct -

To achieve the desired picking strategy in SAP EWM, we can use quantity classifiers for different units of measure (UOM) and configure your Storage Type Search Sequence (STSS) accordingly. Here’s how we can do it:

1. Assign Quantity Classification to UOM:

   • Go to SPRO path: Define Unit of Measure Attributes.
   • Assign the classification ‘P’ to the UOM PAL (Pallet).
   • Assign the classification ‘C’ to the UOM CS (Cases).

2. Maintain UOM in Material Master:

   • Define UOM record for PAL and Cases in the material master.

3. Create Records in STSS:

   • Create two records in the Storage Type Search Sequence (STSS):
     • One with classification ‘P’ for your storage type for full pallets.
     • One with classification ‘C’ for same storage type for full Cases.
     • One with a blank classification for the same storage type designated for partial pallets/cases.

4. Define Access Sequences for STSS:

   • Set up access sequences for the STSS to first check with the classification and then without the classification.

By following these steps, we can ensure that the system prioritizes picking full pallets first and then partial pallets from the same bin, aligning with the requirement.
