FROZEN Horizon behavior in IBP Supply

3,512

Hello,

There is no documentation on the behavior of the FROZEN HORIZON attribute in supply planning- heuristics or Optimizer.

Per the key figure calculation of ADJUSTEDPRODUCTION, only Adjusted Production Interactive values inside the Frozen Horizon should get copied over to Adjusted Production key figures and these values will be respected by the planning operator.

The same is mentioned by rohit.ranjan10 in several posts like this.

However, the behavior I see happen-

1. Adjusted Production key figure gets updated irrespective of Frozen Horizon - outside FH or even if there is not FH.

2. The Optimizer may or may not respect the Adjusted Production values.

Please guide!

Shivaditya Singh

Hello Shivaditya,

Within Frozen horizon, adjusted production will take value from MINPRODUCTION only when adjusted production receipt is NULL.

Whenever there is an interactive adjustment then it is given priority and only when there is no adjustment then system takes value from MINPRODUCTION within frozen horizon. Outside of this only adjusted production is considered.

If you do not see this behavior, then i would suggest raise an OSS to take a look into the system.

Thanks,
Rohit

Hello Rohit,

I have model FH, with copy operator into MINPRODUCTION, but the problem that I see is that the figures of the MINPRODUCTION stay there and get copy into PRODUCTION KF after new heuristic run. (if suggested PRODUCTION is lower, MINPRODUCTION will go to PRODUCTION KF anyway and therefore not replanning correctly).

Is there any solution to avoid that happening?

Many thanks

Hi Juan,

With the above mentioned calculation, It will get copied only within frozen horizon.

The algorithm always tries to produce equal to or higher than MINPRODUCTION values.

Thanks,

Rohit
