Freight Agreement Determination

Dear Gurus,

In SAP Transportation Management (embedded S/4 HANA 1909, Basic Shipping scenario) we are using the Freight Cost calculation (on Freight Orders) according to the Best Practices, based on Scales, Rate Tables, Calculation Sheets and Freight Agreements.

Some of our carriers have more than one Rate Tables: let's say for example, separate Rate Table for inbound- and outbound processes. Therefore we've created 2 different Rate Tables, 2 different Calculation Sheets and 2 different Freight Agreements for these scenarios.

Thus, in a single Freight Order, based on the (client's only one) Purchasing Organization and the Carrier Business Partner, the first (or even the last) created Freight Agreement is determined.

I realized that there is a possibility to enter 'Condition' into the determination process. I could imagine that (based on some years of SAP ECC background with output/price/etc. condition technique) I need to define a BRF+ decision table (or something else?) on Freight Order type: if it is an inbound Freight Order type (for example: YFO1), the condition will be true for the inbound processes and false for the outbound processes and if I set this condition to the Inbound Freight Agreement, it will fulfill my requirement (and of course, vica-versa for the outbound one).

My questions are:

  • Am I right or what is the best practice here to achieve similar result?
  • If this condition is the best possibility, could you please give me a step-by-step guide how to perform it?

Thank you and Best Regards,

Tamás

Hello,

You can use same one calculation sheet and determine the multiple rate table with using rate table determination cond. In this cond. you can define some parameter which can distinguish outbound vs inbound process for example MTR, Zone, Service level, Vendor name etc as per your business design.

hello jalaj15 ,

Thanks for your answers! It sound the best practice solution is in-line with my assumption! Great!

Do you have any kind of 'how-to documentation', step-by-step guide or something similar, how to create this condition which could be used as rate table determination condition?

Thank you in advance!

Tamás
