Hi Experts,
I have a query, my customer wants to create a generic Forwarding agent to use within country deliveries for local delivery companies. for example: To ship small sample shipments in Taiwan(from one CM to Taipai office)
They have forwarding agents like UPS and FedEx, but the deliveries are done by local delivery companies, which they don't want to redirect to FedEx or UPS. They want to use a generic forwarding agent code for all local delivery companies.
Since this my first time dealing forwarding agent issue, please light me up.
Thank you in advance.

What is the business benefit your customer hopes to get from such a proposal?
How will you be able to:

Hi Rob, thak you for your reply,
The client says they have FwdAgent codes set up for FedEx, UPS, etc. However, often times these samples shipped locally within Taiwan are shipped via local delivery companies. Rather than creating these various local delivery companies each as their own master record, we’d prefer to have a “generic” FwdAgent code to use in these cases.
They just want the ability to classify these local shipments as such and not have them just default to FedEx (or other carrier) when they are not being shipped with them.
can this be possible with route determination by creating a forwarding agent as vendor.
Yes.
It is possible and may be beneficial (depending on Customer requirements) in some cases.
For example at one of my client, the Forwarder partner is mandatory in Delivery document. The forwarder is determined from a Custom table based on Route, Ship to Party and many other non-standard factors. The Deliveries are created via Background Jobs and some time the Forwarder is not available in Custom Table.
In such a case we default a Dummy Forwarder to facilitate the Delivery to be created.
What is the exact question you have for the Dummy Forwarder?
Thanks,

How are the Deliveries that need a Dummy Forwarder identified?
If the Forwarder is determined from the Route, then yes you need a separate Route for such deliveries. Are these specific Customers? If yes, then a separate Shipping Condition will help you to determine a separate Route for such Customers / Deliveries.
Regards.
Hi Jignesh,
The client is not using the forwarding agent in sales order, He wants to pick one of the line item in purchase order and sent to local office or local customer through generic forwarding agent. So i have created a vendor with Z010 which is domestic vendor with no company code or purchase org but with few details in general data and they said that works for them as generic forwarding agent.
Thank you for the reply..
