Forecasting with Product Life cycle Phase out date

When we are running Forecasting with Product Life cycle check box on,  during processing the Forecast model, IBP will be  considering  the Forecasting dates maintained in Life cycle app.

e.g. in Lifecycle app if Phase in and Phase out date maintained, while running Forecasting job (background or interactive) it  will generate the results considering dates maintained. which means if Phase out date is June 1st 2025, no forecast will be generated beyond June 1st.

Which make sense. however, there is a catch.

Scenario 1:

If I am NOT maintaining, any phase out date for any product.

Result :

Forecast will be generated based on the forecast model selected – OKAY.

Scenario 2:

If I am maintaining, any phase out date for particular product at particular dimension (say Location) = LOC1.

Result : Forecast will be generated for PROD and LOC1 as per the Phase out date - OKAY

 Scenario 3:

Now, If I am maintaining, any phase out date as 01.04.2025 for particular product for particular dimension (say Location) = LOC1. BUT NOT maintaining anything for LOC2 and LOC3

Result : Forecast will NOT be generated for PROD and LOC1 as per the Phase out date – OKAY but there is no Forecast for LOC2 and LOC3 also, Why ?  NOT OKAY

Currently if I am on Scenario 3, and wanted the forecast for all other locations , I have to maintain an additional Entry for same product with Dimension as LOCATION = *

if i maintain this addition entry (*) the forecast will be getting generated for LOC2 and LOC3.

but Why IBP is forcing to create this “*” entry ? why IBP can not only consider LOC1 with phase out date whereas rest all as  scenario 1 ( no PLM maintained for the location 2 and 3 ?

Do any of you have any other thoughts?
